Anil Kapoor returns to running after four years
In a video shared on Instagram in September, Kapoor was seen running on a track. The actor revealed that it had been four years since he had last recorded a run in that way. “Four years since I last recorded a run like this,” Kapoor wrote, adding that his fitness journey had not stopped but had “changed pace” and “changed shape”. He also stressed that progress is not always about speed, but about “persistence and consistency”. The message fits with something Kapoor has spoken about repeatedly over the years: fitness is not a short-term project for him.
Anil Kapoor’s fitness routine goes beyond running
Running is only one part of Kapoor’s workout routine. In April, Hindustan Times reported on another workout video in which the actor performed several upper-body strength exercises, including dumbbell shoulder presses, hammer curls, chest presses, seated rows and lat pull-downs. He also finished the session with an ice bath.
His cardio routine has also continued alongside strength training. In a recent video, Kapoor was seen using a stationary exercise bike, describing it as his “favourite cardio friend” and saying they “go back a long way”. That combination matters because Kapoor’s approach has never been limited to maintaining his appearance. In March, speaking at the India Today Conclave, he said, “I can run very fast, and I love running and walking,” while discussing how he stays fit at 69.

Anil Kapoor also gives importance to consistency and food
Anil Kapoor has previously described consistency as one of the biggest forces behind achieving results. His workouts have included both cardio and weight training, while reports on his routine have also highlighted his attention to food. In a 2022 Instagram video, Kapoor said, “Food is not for taste, but it’s for you to build your strength and stamina.” NDTV reported that the actor treats running as an important part of his fitness routine and has also incorporated strength training into his workouts. Hindustan Times has similarly reported that Kapoor combines weight training with activities such as cycling, jogging and cardio.
The bigger lesson from his fitness comeback
Anil Kapoor’s return to running is less about proving how fast a 69-year-old can run and more about showing how a fitness routine can change with time. A four-year gap did not mean the actor abandoned exercise. He continued training in different forms before returning to running, reinforcing his own message that progress can sometimes mean changing pace rather than stopping altogether.
For Anil Kapoor, staying active appears to be less about chasing a particular age-defying image and more about maintaining a routine he can continue adapting to. At 69, that approach has brought him back to the track — while cardio, strength training and consistency remain central to his fitness journey.
